The celebrated and environmental award-winning holiday village of Crowhurst park near Battle, East Sussex reaches its 60th birthday in early 2012. Ever since its modest beginnings in 1952, the harmonious and helpful relationship with Mother Nature has been of paramount importance to its owners and, increasingly, its guests and visitors.
One of the most prestigious and sought-after awards in the business of holiday parklands and residential villages is the Conservation Award bestowed by world-renowned Environmental Campaigner and Broadcaster David Bellamy. Crowhurst Park has been granted the Gold Status Award by David Bellamy for the past 10 years. Management continues to invest in the woodlands and grounds with careful and highly informed stewardship of the flora and fauna which have been resident in Crowhurst Park for generations.
| Closer to the facilities for guests and residents, Crowhurst Park strives to keep all accommodation properly insulated and as fuel-efficient as possible for cooking and heating. The entire Leisure Club – including the heated pool – is carefully maintained, regularly checked and updated to ensure the lowest possible environmental impact on the eco-systems surrounding the main buildings.

Activities and Plans for ensuring the healthy status of the Crowhurst Park environment include:-
• Corporate Membership of The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust • Membership of The Woodland Trust through the management of Archers of Battle – the Field Archery Club resident in Crowhurst park woodland. • Sustainable management of all woodland and grassland to protect plant and wildlife habitat(s). • Investment in the facilities and professional expertise required to develop a Field Archery course – described by The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) and the Country Land & Business Association (CLA) as the cleanest, low environmental impact shooting sport in Britain. • Installation of ‘Woodland Walks’ for residents and visitors – with expert guidance to ensure all plants and wildlife remain undisturbed.
| • Research and protection programmes with the GWCT to observe and protect Woodcock, one of the UK’s most vulnerable migratory birds. • Tree planting campaign with The Woodland Trust to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s diamond jubilee in 2012, along with Crowhurst Park’s 60th anniversary as a holiday village. • Constant application of the most stringent environmental regulations with respect to energy consumption, water use and the function of Park accommodation; - including the new construction of eco-homes in the Little Finland programme starting in 2012.

| | The management and staff of Crowhurst Park share a deep and healthy respect for the Park’s grounds, which provide nutritious habitats for indigenous species such as badger, fox, field-mouse, voles, stoat, weasel, grass-snake, slow-worm, goshawk, wren, barn owl, tawny owl and more.
The management of the woodland activities (Field Archery, wildlife photography, woodland walks etc.) includes a Fellow of The Zoological Society of London.
